The Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale (M-C SDS) and the MMPI were administered to 78 hospitalized mental patients. Correlations between the M-C SDS and the MMPI scales were computed. The correlations (all statistically significant) were generally higher than had been reported in previous studies. The results support a recent contention that the M-C SDS shares a higher relationship with MMPI performance than previously suggested by Crowne and Marlowe.
