Gluten Sensitive Enteropathy Presenting with Celiac Crisis as the Initial Presentation: Case Report
Gluten duyarlı enteropati, insanlarda en sık görülen otoimmün karakterli ve gıda kökenli ince barsak mukoza hastalığıdır. Çölyak krizi ise yaşamı tehdit eden ve çölyak hastalığının nadir görülen bir komplikasyonudur. Bu komplikasyon klinik olarak; hipokalemi, hipomagnezemi, hipokalsemi, hipoproteinemi, demir ve folik asit eksikliğine yol açan ağır derecede ishal, dehidrasyon ve metabolik değişikliklerle karakterize bir tablodur. Çölyak krizi hastalığın nadir görülen ciddi bir komplikasyonudur. Otuz yedi yaşındaki kadın olgu, ishal ve kilo kaybı ile acil servise başvurdu. Laboratuvar tetkikleri ve ileri değerlendirme ile hastaya çölyak hastalığı ve akut krizi tanısı kondu. Bu olgu sunumunda, çölyak hastalığının tipik özellikleri ve nadir bir komplikasyonu olan çölyak krizi literatür bilgileri ışığı altında sunulmuştur.

Tissue expressions of regulatory enzymes of the krebs cycle in low- and high-grade gliomas
To compare tissue levels of the regulatory enzymes related to the Krebs cycle between low, and high-grade supratentorial gliomas.Forty patients who underwent surgery for supratentorial gliomas (19 with low-grade and 21 with high-grade gliomas) were evaluated. The regulatory enzymes directly involved in the Krebs cycle, namely pyruvate dehydrogenase, citrate synthase, ?-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase, and isocitrate dehydrogenase, and two enzymes that indirectly regulate the Krebs cycle, namely glutamate dehydrogenase and glutaminase, were quantitatively studied in tumor tissues using ELISA. The results were compared between the two groups.The levels of all enzymes were higher in the high-grade glioma group but only pyruvate dehydrogenase, citrate synthase, and isocitrate dehydrogenase levels showed statistical significance. Moreover, all enzymes showed higher tissue levels in grade- II compared to grade-I gliomas, but only two enzymes, glutamate dehydrogenase and glutaminase, reached significantly higher levels. In the high-grade glioma group, all enzymes again showed higher tissue levels in grade-IV gliomas than in grade-III gliomas, but none showed statistical significance.Regulatory enzymes of the Krebs cycle are increased in high-grade gliomas compared to low-grade gliomas. Glutaminolysis enzymes, namely glutamate dehydrogenase and glutaminase, which are required for resupplying the Krebs cycle, are also increased in order to meet the high energy demand in high-grade gliomas.

Adana İlindeki Küçük Ölçekli Mobilya İşletmelerinde İş Kazalarının Analizi
In this study, occupational accidents that occurred in small-scale furniture enterprises in the Province of Adana were analyzed. In the study, 238 employees out of 550 in 61 different enterprises were interviewed in a survey about occupational accidents. As result, accidents were found to occur greater during the production process, and the most important causes for the accidents included the lack of training and equipment.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Serum ethanol level measurements are frequently performed in clinical and forensic toxicological laboratories.Measurement uncertainty is defined as analytical data that evaluates the reliability of a test.The aim of this study is to evaluate the measurement uncertainty of the ethanol test by using the internal and external quality control results of Gulhane Training and Research Hospital Emergency Biochemistry Laboratory.METHODS: The measurement uncertainty of serum ethanol analysis was calculated according to the Nordest Guidelines.For this purpose, ethanol internal quality control (120 units) and external quality control (6 units) results of Beckman Coulter AU680 autoanalyzer in Ankara Gulhane Training and Research Hospital Emergency Biochemistry Laboratory were retrospectively scanned and used in the calculation.RESULTS: In the analyzes made using the data of our laboratory, the uncertainty value of the ethanol test was determined as 11.92%.CONCLUSIONS: Uncertainty is a parameter that shows the distribution of probabilities attributed to the measurement result.The ethanol analysis results of our laboratory were determined as ±11.92%U (extended uncertainty).While ignoring the uncertainty increases the risk of making the wrong decision, its interpretation with the result reduces the risk of the decision maker.Therefore, calculating the uncertainty values in the measurement of serum ethanol level is one of the important steps to be taken in order to increase the reliability of the results.
