Smart Vehicles, Technologies and Main Applications in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks
Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs) belong to a subcategory of traditional Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs). The main feature of VANETs is that mobile nodes are vehicles endowed with sophisticated “on-board” equipments, traveling on constrained paths (i.e., roads and lanes), and communicating each other for message exchange via Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication protocols, as well as between vehicles and fixed road-side Access Points (i.e., wireless and cellular network infrastructure), in case of Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications [1].

Invasive Mould Infections of the Naso-Orbital Region of Cats: A Case Involving <i>Aspergillus Fumigatus</i> and an Aetiological Review
Case and context This report describes a cat diagnosed with sinonasal-orbital Aspergillus fumigatus infection using advanced imaging, histopathology and culture. Aetiology, clinical aspects and treatment of this rare and devastating infection are discussed with reference to a literature review of invasive mould (ie, filamentous fungal) infections involving tissues of the naso-orbital region of cats. Presentations Invasive fungal infections can present with different localisations (nasal passages, sinuses, orbits, subcutaneous space, palate, etc) depending on the species involved and its means of introduction into the tissues. Localised subcutaneous lesions (swellings, ulcerations, masses, nodules, etc), without concomitant signs of nasal/orbital disease, generally result from traumatic injuries and subsequent inoculation of fungal spores into the subcutaneous space. In contrast, naso-ocular involvement and concurrent signs of nasal disease (nasal discharge, sneezing, masses protruding from the nostrils) generally result from inhalation of spores, with subsequent spread of infection into the nasal planum or penetration of overlying bone and invasion of the subcutaneous space. Aspergillus species typically show such an invasion mechanism and frequently affect orbital tissues. Dematiaceous fungi (ie, filamentous fungi with brown/black hyphae) are reported to cause solitary, less invasive, slowly developing lesions, probably as a result of traumatic injuries with inoculation of fungal propagules. Accordingly, the subcutaneous space is more frequently primarily involved. Treatment and outcome Whatever the mould species, reported treatment options include surgery and a series of antifungal drugs. The outcome is frequently poor, especially for Aspergillus infections, although various measures can be taken to maximise the chances of success, as discussed in this report.

ITER Core Plasma Thomson Scattering diagnostic design
The ITER Core Plasma Thomson Scattering (CPTS) diagnostic system is designed to measure the electron temperature and density with an accuracy of 10 % and 5 %, respectively, at the Tokamak plasma core with a spatial resolution of 66 mm. A 1064 nm laser is injected into the vacuum vessel during the plasma pulse, where the laser light is scattered by the plasma electrons due to Thomson Scattering. The scattered light is collected and analysed to determine the electron temperature and density. The CPTS diagnostic PDR design proposes a complete, detailed and robust preliminary design, compliant with the system requirements and nuclear regulations.

A Photogrammetric Method for Single Image Orientation and Measurement
The aim of this paper is to present a photogrammetric method for determining the dimensions of flat surfaces, such as billboards, based on a single digital image. A mathematical model was adapted to generate linear equations for vertical and horizontal lines in the object space. These lines are identified and measured in the image and the rotation matrix is computed using an indirect method. The distance between the camera and the surface is measured using a lasermeter, providing the coordinates of the camera perspective center. Eccentricity of the lasermeter center related to the camera perspective center is modeled by three translations, which are computed using a calibration procedure. Some experiments were performed to test the proposed method and the achieved results are within a relative error of about 1 percent in areas and distances in the object space. This accuracy fulfills the requirements of the intended applications.

NKp44 expression, phylogenesis and function in non-human primate NK cells
Molecular and functional characterization of the natural cytotoxicity receptor (NCR) NKp44 in species other than Homo sapiens has been elusive, so far. Here, we provide complete phenotypic, molecular and functional characterization for NKp44 triggering receptor on Pan troglodytes NK cells, the closest human relative, and the analysis of NKp44-genomic locus and transcription in Macaca fascicularis. Similar to H. sapiens, NKp44 expression is detectable on chimpanzee NK cells only upon activation. However, basal NKp44 transcription is 5-fold higher in chimpanzees with lower differential increases upon cell activation compared with humans. Upon activation, an overall 12-fold lower NKp44 gene expression is observed in P. troglodytes compared with H. sapiens NK cells with only a slight reduction in NKp44 surface expression. Functional analysis of 'in vitro' activated purified NK cells confirms the NKp44 triggering potential compared with other major NCRs. These findings suggest the presence of a post-transcriptional regulation that evolved differently in H. sapiens. Analysis of cynomolgus NKp44-genomic sequence and transcription pattern showed very low levels of transcription with occurrence of out-of-frame transcripts and no surface expression. The present comparative analysis suggests that NKp44-genomic organization appears during macaque speciation, with considerable evolution of its transcriptional and post-transcriptional tuning. Thus, NKp44 may represent an NCR being only recently emerged during speciation, acquiring functional relevance only in non-human primates closest to H. sapiens.

The Economic Burden and Impact on Quality of Life of Herpes Zoster and Postherpetic Neuralgia in Individuals Aged 50 Years or Older in Italy
To estimate the health care resource utilization, costs, and impact on quality of life (QoL) of herpes zoster (HZ) and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) in adults aged ≥50 years in Italy. This was a prospective, observational, multicenter, community physician-based surveillance study (NCT01772160) in Italy. Health-related QoL data were collected using the EuroQoL-5 Dimension (EQ-5D) and Zoster Brief Pain Inventory (ZBPI) questionnaires. Both questionnaires were assessed at days 0 (HZ rash onset), 15, 30, 60, and 90 for all patients, and monthly thereafter for patients who developed PHN. Resource utilization was recorded for 3 months post-HZ onset and 9 months for PHN patients. Costs from both payer and societal perspectives were estimated and were composed of direct medical costs (general practitioner/specialist visits, procedures, hospitalizations, medications), work loss by patient/caregiver, and transport costs.A total of 391 patients with HZ were included, of whom 40 developed PHN. The mean ZBPI worst pain score was 5.7 at day 0, reducing to 2.6 at day 30 and 0.7 by day 90. Patients with PHN had a mean worst pain score of 5.7 at day 90. We estimated an overall disutility associated with HZ of 0.134. The mean cost per HZ patient from a payer/societal perspective was €153/€298, respectively, and the mean cost per HZ patients who developed PHN was €176/€426, respectively.HZ is associated with impaired QoL and substantial health care resource use, highlighting the need for preventive strategies. This could reduce the disease burden for the patient and health care system.NCT01772160.

PMMA Intraocular Lenses Changes after Treatment with Nd:Yag Laser: A Scanning Electron Microscopy and X-ray Spectrometry Study
Neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser may cause intraocular lenses (IOLs) damages. Therefore, the effects of Nd:YAG laser on IOLs were evaluated. Twenty-four IOLs (copolymer of 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate and 2-ethoxyethylmethacrylate) were used. For scanning electron microscope (SEM), twelve IOLs were divided into three groups: Group 1, controls; Group 2, IOLs treated with two laser spots (YC-1800 Nidek Nd:YAG laser set at 1.2 mJ); and Group 3, IOLs treated with six laser spots. All IOLs were critical point dried in CO2 and viewed in a Zeiss EVO LS10 SEM. For Energy Dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX), four IOLs of each group were examined with a Jeol JMC-6000 SEM. With SEM, Group 1 IOLs showed well-preserved size, shape and surface. Group 2 IOLs exhibited normal shape and margins, a peripheral furrow with irregular blebs, straight clefts and holes on the wrinkled surface. Group 3 IOLs were swollen and broken into two or three parts. With SEM and EDX, Group 1 and the undamaged surfaces of Groups 2 and 3 showed evident carbon and oxygen peaks, while, in the damaged areas, both atoms were significantly reduced. Nd:YAG laser induced evident changes in IOLs morphology and organic alterations in their chemistry: great care during posterior capsule opacification treatment is required.

Seamless Connectivity Techniques in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks
Emerging Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks (VANETs) are representing the preferred network design for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), mainly based on Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) for Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communications (Held, 2007). Future vehicles will be fully networked, equipped with on-board computers with multiple Network Interface Cards (NICs) (e.g., Wi-Fi, HSDPA, GPS), and emerging wireless technologies (e.g., IEEE 802.11p, WiMax, LTE). Although V2V is potentially the most viable approach to low-latency short-range vehicular networks, connectivity in VANETs is often not available due to quick topology network changes, random vehicle speed, and traffic density (i.e. sparse, dense, and totally disconnected neighbourhoods) (Chiara et al., 2009). As an alternative, longer-range vehicular connectivity are supported by a Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) protocol (Held, 2007), which exploits a pre-existing network infrastructure, for communications between vehicles and wireless/cellular access points (referred to Road Side Units, RSUs). As a further benefit, V2I protocols allow access to the Internet and delivery of traditional applications in addition to dedicated applications for ITS, thus making vehicle communications more versatile. Both the paradigms —V2V and V2I— exhibit connectivity problems. Different speed and traffic densities result in low vehicular contact rate, and limit communications via V2V protocol, while V2I communications are reduced, especially in highway scenarios, by the low number of RSUs displaced on the roads. Moreover, V2I limitations are due to particular vehicular applications, and performance is also strictly dependent on the specific wireless technology for the RSUs. It can then become advantageous to adopt hybrid schemes combining V2V and V2I communication into a single protocol and allowing fast migration from V2I to V2V connectivity depending on the operation context (high/low density, high/low velocity). Such mechanism is the so-called Vertical Handover (Pollini, 1996). In this chapter we shall describe the traditional techniques —Vertical Handover algorithms— used for seamless connectivity in heterogeneous wireless network environments, and in particular adopt them in VANETs, where V2V and V2I represent the main communication protocols. Section 2 deals with the basic features of Vertical Handover (VHO) in the general context of a hybrid wireless network environment, and it discusses how decision metrics can affect handover performance (i.e. number of handover

Non-Toxic Anesthesia for Cataract Surgery
Background: To study the safety and efficacy provided by a minimal and localized anesthesia in cataract surgery. Methods: Randomized controlled trial. A total of 100 patients undergoing cataract surgery were randomly divided into two groups of 50, which respecitvely received conventional topical anesthesia consisting of preservative-free Oxibuprocaine hydrochloride 0.4% drops or minimal localized anesthesia, administered with a cotton bud soaked in preservative-free Oxibuprocaine hydrochloride 0.4% applied to clear cornea on the access sites for 10 s immediately before surgery. The mean outcome measures were intraoperative pain and the incidence of postoperative ocular discomfort. Results: All patients tolerated well the procedure, giving patin scores between 1–3. Fifteen patients (30%) of group 1 and ten of group 2 (25%) required supplemental anesthesia. No intraoperative complications were recorded. No eyes had epithelial defects at the end of the surgery or at postoperative check-ups. Conclusions: Minimal anesthesia in cataract surgery resulted quick, safe and non-invasive.

Spontaneous bilateral corneal perforation in ocular Rosacea
Purpose To report a rare case of a 19-year-old girl who presented with spontaneous bilateral corneal perforation in a setting of ocular rosacea Methods Ocular rosacea was diagnosed and treated with doxycycline. Cyanoacrylate glue was applied to treat corneal perforations. Results At six months follow up there is good healing, visual acuity has improved, anterior chamber is deep with no Seidel. Conclusions Rosacea is a multifactorial disease with an unclear pathophysiology. The ocular manifestations of rosacea (ocular rosacea) may occur without skin involvement, are not specific and can range from mild blepharitis to sight-threatening conditions. This case shows how ocular rosacea can lead to serious vision-threatening complications with mild symptoms. Cyanoacrylate glue and systemic antibiotic treatment are effective treatments.

Vortex and Core Detection using Computer Vision and Machine Learning Methods
The identification of vortices and cores is crucial for understanding airflow motion in aerodynamics. Currently, numerous methods in Computer Vision and Machine Learning exist for detecting vortices and cores. This research develops a comprehensive framework by combining classic Computer Vision and state-of-the-art Machine Learning techniques for vortex and core detection. It enhances a CNN-based method using Computer Vision algorithms for Feature Engineering and then adopts an Ensemble Learning approach for vortex core classification, through which false positives, false negatives, and computational costs are reduced. Specifically, four features, i.e., Contour Area, Aspect Ratio, Area Difference, and Moment Centre, are employed to identify vortex regions using YOLOv5s, followed by a hard voting classifier based on Random Forest, Adaptive Boosting, and Xtreme Gradient Boosting algorithms for vortex core detection. This novel approach differs from traditional Computer Vision approaches using mathematical variables and image features such as HAAR and SIFT for vortex core detection. The findings show that vortices are detected with a high degree of statistical confidence by a fine-tuned YOLOv5s model, and the integrated technique produces an accuracy score of 97.56% in detecting vortex cores conducted on a total of 133 images generated from a rotor blade NACA0012 simulation. Future work will focus on framework generalisation with a larger and more diverse dataset and intelligent threshold development for more efficient vortex and core detection.

Infectious conjunctivitis caused by <i>Pseudomonas</i><i>a</i><i>eruginosa</i> in infected and extrused scleral buckles
Extrusion of the scleral buckle is one of the complications patients may encounter undergoing the surgical treatment for retinal detachment. We present two cases of persistent Pseudomonasaeruginosa-related conjunctivitis which infected the silicone explant after retinal surgery. One of them is a 73-year-old Caucasian female patient with hyperaemia, intense pain and mucopurulent discharge. After the conjunctival swabs detected a P. aeruginosa infection, she started both topical and systemic treatment without any results; for this reason we opted for the buckle removal always under systemic therapy. The second case is an 84-year-old Caucasian female patient with fever, periorbital oedema, chronic ocular pain, hyperaemia and purulent discharge. P. aeruginosa has also been detected in this case. No improvement with topical and systemic treatment, so this convinced us to remove patient's buckles and to continue systemic therapy. Both cases had the complete resolution after surgery. It is important to quickly recognise exposed scleral buckles because they can be a source of infections and a rare but threatening cause of endophthalmitis.

Connectivity Support in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks
Recent advances in wireless technology and decreasing costs of portable devices strongly contributed to increase the popularity of mobile communications.Wireless communication and device integration have lead to the so-called nomadic computing (or mobile computing) where portable devices (such as laptop and handheld computers) allow users to access Internet and data on their home or work computers from anywhere in the world.Multimedia services requirements nowadays encompass not only large bandwidths, but also on-the-move facilities.Future 4th generation wireless communications systems will provide seamless mobility support to access heterogeneous wired and wireless networks (Makhecha & Wandra, 2009), (Lin et al., 2010).Emerging and pre-existing wireless technologies exhibit different characteristics, access technologies, available services and network performances. For example GSM, UMTS, WLAN and WiMAX have different bandwidth (70 Mbps for WiMAX and 9.6 kbps for GSM), cell diameter ( 50 km in LoS for WiMAX and 100 m for WLAN), or handover latency (3 s for WLAN and 50 µs for WiMAX).The increasing demand for services with high QoS requirements and novel mobility scenarios, like on-the-move business users, home and office networks, on-the-move entertainment, info-mobility etc., provide users to be connected to the Internet anytime and anywhere, as well as user services and connectivity be maintained, and kept alive.Mobility management in heterogeneous networks is the essential support for roaming nomadic devices switching from one access technology to another, at the same time maintaining seamless connectivity at high QoS services (i.e.video-streaming).New emerging multimode mobile devices are equipped with multiple wireless network interface cards, providing Vertical Handover capability to autonomously select the best access network. The design of innovative handover mechanisms -sometimes called as handoffbetween heterogeneous mobile devices (e.g.PDA, laptop, smart phones) and seamless integration of different integrated network (e.g.GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, GPS, WLAN, Bluetooth and so on) is an open research issue. www.intechopen.com Recent Advances in Wireless Communications and Networks 222In this way, a mobile user can seamlessly switch between different networks, supporting the same services. This process must be performed to automatically adapt to change access networks and environments, without any user participation. In order to do this, cross layer design for multimedia communications is required.Mobile computing then becomes more feasible, e.g. a mobile user performing a videoconference using UMTS maintains this service even though the link breaks down, accessing into a WLAN network.Vertical Handover (VHO) is a mechanism allowing heterogeneous connectivity by enabling switches from a serving network to a candidate network, whenever users or network requirements (i.e.power level, network congestions, or other QoS constraints) impose or suggest it.Notice that VHO allows switching from one access technology to another, thus offering additional functionalities with respect to classic horizontal handover where mobile nodes move from an access point to another without changing the serving access network (Balasubramaniam & Indulska, 2004), (McNair & Fang, 2004).In this chapter we show how heterogeneous networks for next generation multimedia systems can cooperate in order to provide seamless mobility support to mobile users requiring high multimedia Quality-of-Service (QoS) constraints (Knightson et al., 2005).We describe the traditional techniques of Vertical Handover in heterogeneous wireless networks.Basically, in Section 2 we introduce the main characteristics of handover process and our effort is addressed on a first handover classification, which distinguishes between horizontal and vertical, hard and soft, upward and downward procedures, and more.Beyond several handover algorithms, in Subsection 2.1 we give an overview of current IEEE 802.21 standard for seamless connectivity in heterogeneous environments. In Section 3 we describe different decision metrics for handover mechanisms.Various metrics triggering handover decisions, including multi-parameters QoS, and mobile terminal location information, will be described in details in Subsection 3.1, and 3.2, respectively. Moreover, a hybrid approach which exploits both power measurements and location information will be presented in Subsection 3.3.Finally conclusions are drawn in Section 4. Vertical handover procedures overviewNew-generation wireless networks adopt a heterogeneous broadband technology model aiming to guarantee seamless connectivity to mobile users, anytime and anywhere.Different network characteristics are expected for different multimedia applications, each of them requiring a specific QoS level.Ubiquitous access through a single network technology could not always guarantee seamless connectivity, due to geographical coverage limitations, so that the cooperation of different access networks represents an important feature for heterogeneous environments.A general definition of handover assumes it as the process by which a mobile terminal keeps its connection active when migrating from the coverage of one network Access Point (AP) to another.Basically, different types of handovers can occur in wireless overlay networks.Network switching can be performed not only to maintain user connectivity but also to keep high QoS.There are some decision handover parameters based on QoS, available resources, channel quality or preference consumer. In GSM, handover decision is based on the perception of channel quality, reflected by the received signal strength and the availability of resources in neighbour cells. The Base Station (BS) usually measures the quality of the radio link channels used by Mobile Nodes (MNs) in its service area.Measures are periodically updated so that degradations in signal strength www.intechopen.com

CO2 Laser Photoacoustic Spectroscopy: II. Instrumentation and Applications
In this chapter, the main components of an instrument based on laser photoacoustic spectroscopy (LPAS) principles are described in detail. Special emphasis is laid on the home-built, frequency-stabilized, line-tunable CO2-laser source and the resonant photoacoustic cell. All of the parameters that are characteristic to the photoacoustic cell, including the limiting sensitivity of the system, are measured and compared with the best results reported by other authors. Approaches to improve current sensor performance are also discussed. Other aspects of a functional photoacoustic instrument, such as the gas handling system and data acquisition and processing, are outlined.

La patología psiquiátrica en la incapacidad permanente
espanolINTRODUCCION. EnglishINTRODUCTION. Most Social Security Systems have mechanisms to protect financially workers who are unable to work due to illness or injury, such as incapacity benefits and early retirement. When a person’s health condition becomes incompatible with a profitable work activity and this clinical status is likely to be long-term, the Spanish Social Security Law provides the legal concept of ill-health retirement (IHR). Mental disorders are a very important cause of disability and impaired work capability, leading to premature retirement on health grounds. MATERIAL AND METHOD. 2.090 ill-health retirement administrative case notes were reviewed. The presence or absence of a mental health disorder and IHR entitlement was determined. We examined which variables were associated with being granted IHR, as well as assessment methods for quantifying mentalhealth related disability. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS. Mental disorders’ related disability is directly associated with both IHR qualifying status and higher tier rate. Gender (male), and greater mental health disorder severity, as well as substance misuse or previous psychiatric hospitalization were associated with IHR. Both affective and psychotic disorders were the most frequent diagnostic groups in cases qualifying for Incapacidad Permanente Absoluta.

Measurement of the Higgs boson production in the H → ττ → τlepτhad decay channel at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC
−0,09 −0,09 −1,01 −1,23 pb. PSY196 - THE ECONOMIC BURDEN AND IMPACT ON QUALITY OF LIFE OF HERPES ZOSTER AND POSTHERPETIC NEURALGIA IN INDIVIDUALS AGED 50 YEARS OR OLDER IN ITALY
To estimate the impact on quality of life (QoL), the health care resource utilization and costs of Herpes Zoster (HZ) and Post-Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN) in adults aged ≥50 years in Italy. This was a prospective, observational, multi-centre, community-physician based study in Italy (NCT01772160). 391 subjects with HZ were included, 40 of whom developed PHN. Health related QoL data were collected using the EuroQoL5D (EQ-5D) and Zoster Brief Pain Inventory (ZBPI) questionnaires. Both questionnaires were assessed at day: 0 (HZ rash onset), 15, 30, 60, 90 for all subjects and then once every 30 days for subjects who developed PHN. Resource utilization was recorded for 3 months post HZ onset and for 9 months for PHN subjects. Costs from both a payer and societal perspective were estimated and were composed of direct medical costs (physician and specialist visits, procedures, hospitalisations, medications), productivity loss by subject/caregiver and transportation costs. For all HZ subjects the mean ZBPI worst pain score (Scale 0-10) was 5.7 at day 0, reducing to 2.6 at day 30 and 0.7 by day 90. Subjects with PHN had a mean worst pain score of 5.7 at day 90. We estimated a mean disutility associated with acute HZ (i.e. Day 0-30) of 0.134. A mean of 2.2 Physician and 0.14 specialist visits were observed per subject while 7 subjects required hospitalisation. The mean cost per HZ episode from a payer/societal perspective was €153/298, and €176/426 for subjects who developed PHN. The highest combined costs were observed in subjects with ocular complications. Medications accounted for 58% of the total direct medical cost. HZ and its related complications are associated with impaired QoL and substantial health care resource use. This highlights the need for preventive strategies to reduce the disease burden for patients and health care systems.

EnglishThioredoxins (TRXs) are key components for the redox control of plant metabolism, being small ubiquitous proteins that house an active dithiol domain involved in the thiol / disulfide exchange by which they regulate the structure and activity of target proteins. Extraplastidial TRXs include the TRXo1 type located in the mitochondria and in the nucleus. To date, the knowledge about TRXo1 type is very scarce, compared with their chloroplastid counterparts. In order to obtain more information on the physiological and metabolic function of the double-localized thioredoxin TRXo1, in this Doctoral Thesis, we have analyzed some processes in which both mitochondrial and nuclear target proteins are involved, as well as metabolic changes in the Knockouts (KO1 and KO2) and in the over-expressing (OEX) Attrxo1 mutants genotypes under saline stress conditions (100 mM NaCl). In purified mitochondria, we found that the KOs mutants showed alterations in the activities of the ascorbate-glutathione cycle components and in the in vivo electron partitionic between the cytochrome (COX) and alternative (AOX, target of TRXo1) pathways, as well as in the AOX isoenzyme pattern. These results indicate a reorganization of the different antioxidant and respiratory systems under salinity condition. Additionally, we found a decrease in glucose and fructose levels in these mutants, which is consistent with an increase in respiration through COX under control conditions. PYR1 (Pyrabactine resistance 1) protein, an abscisic acid receptor (ABA), has been found in our laboratory to be a possible target of TRXo1 in the nucleus. In this Doctoral Thesis we have confirmed the interaction between the two proteins by in vitro and in vivo assays (dot-blot trap, co- immunoprecipitation and fluorescent bimolecular complementation). Additionally, the in vitro analysis of PYR1 activity, has suggested that PYR1 is regulated by TRXo1 via redox mechanism. In parallel, we have carried out a study to evaluate the sensitivity to different concentrations of exogenous ABA, of the KO1 and OEX mutants. To do this, we have analyzed stomatic movement and germination capacity. The differences found between the WT genotype and the mutants, suggest that TRXo1 might be participating in the regulation of both processes probably through its interaction with PYR1. We have also studied stomata, photosynthetic and metabolic responses in the mutants (KO1 and OEX), in order to analyze the effect that the lack and the over-expression of TRXo1 might have on processes affected by stomata function. Lower density of mature stomata in KO1 plants in control and in KO1 and OEX plants in salinity conditions, suggests that TRXo1 could be involved in stomata development. Stomata closure was not affected in the mutants under saline condition in spite of the higher NO and ABA levels. These results, suggest that TRXo1 might be involved in post-translational modifications that could be regulating elements of the ABA perception signaling pathway. Additionally, the differences found in stomata dynamics could be also related to changes in the metabolism produced by the alteration of the TRXo1 levels. Finally, both, metabolic and stomata dynamics differences, do not affect the photosynthetic response, which is similar in the three genotypes. The objectives achieved in this Doctoral Thesis represent an advance in the study of the physiological and metabolic function of TRXo1, expanding the knowledge of its mitochondrial and nuclear functions. They also demonstrate the involvement of TRXo1 in key processes to adaptation to saline stress, such as stomata development and the response to ABA.

A Proposal to Integrate ORB-Slam Fisheye and Convolutional Neural Networks for Outdoor Terrestrial Mobile Mapping
SLAM methods, such as ORB-SLAM, can build a map of an unknown environment (sparse point cloud) with optical images. The sensor motion provides image sequences over which keypoints are extracted and matched, enabling the simultaneous computation of sensor locations and 3D coordinates of points. In the last years, enormous progress has been done to solve the SLAM problem, especially focusing on computational efficiency and accurate sensor trajectory estimation. However, the auto-detection of incorrect or undesired match points (outliers) to support the auto-decision of include or not an image observation in the estimation process is still an open problem. ORB-SLAM fisheye is applied in this study to estimate sensor trajectory based on dual-fisheye images acquired with Ricoh Theta S omnidirectional camera in a terrestrial mobile mapping system carried by a backpack. This preliminary study demonstrated the possible effects of image observation outliers in the sensor trajectory estimation (planimetric and altimetric accuracy of 0.381m and 0.26m, respectively). A proposal to combine semantic segmentation using CNN in the photogrammetric process workflow to cope with this problem and detect potential image observation outlier areas is presented.
