The upgraded DØ detector
The D0 experiment enjoyed a very successful data-collection run at the Fermilab Tevatron collider between 1992 and 1996. Since then, the detector has been upgraded to take advantage of improvements to the Tevatron and to enhance its physics capabilities. We describe the new elements of the detector, including the silicon microstrip tracker, central fiber tracker, solenoidal magnet, preshower detectors, forward muon detector, and forward proton detector. The uranium/liquid-argon calorimeters and central muon detector, remaining from Run I, are discussed briefly. We also present the associated electronics, triggering, and data acquisition systems, along with the design and implementation of software specific to D0.

The CDF detector: an overview
The Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) is a 5000 t magnetic detector built to study 2 TeV pp collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron. Event analysis is based on charged particle tracking, magnetic momentum analysis and fine-grained calorimetry. The combined electromagnetic and hadron calorimetry has approximately uniform granularity in rapidity-azimuthal angle and extends down to 2° from the beam direction. Various tracking chambers cover the calorimeter acceptance and extend charged particle tracking down to 2 mrad from the beam direction. Charged particle momenta are analyzed in a 1.5 T solenoidal magnetic field, generated by a superconducting coil which is 3 m in diameter and 5 m in length. The central tracking chamber measures particle momenta with a resolution better then δpT/pT2 = 2 × 10−3 (GeV/c)−1 in the region 40° < θ < 140° and δPT/pT2 ≤ 4 × 10−3 for 21° < θ < 40° and 140° < θ < 159°. The calorimetry, which has polar angle coverage from 2° to 178° and full azimuthal coverage, consists of electromagnetic shower counters and hadron calorimeters, and is segmented into about 5000 projective “towers” or solid angle elements. Muon coverage is provided by drift chambers in the region 56° < θ < 124°, and by large forward toroid systems in the range 3° < θ < 16° and 164° < θ < 177°. Isolated high momentum muons can be identified in the intermediate angular range by a comparison of the tracking and calorimeter information in many cases. A custom front-end electronics system followed by a large Fastbus network provides the readout of the approximately 100 000 detector channels. Fast Level 1 and Level 2 triggers make a detailed pre-analysis of calorimetry and tracking information; a Level 3 system of on-line processors will do parallel processing of events. This paper provides a summary of the aspects of the detector which are relevant to its physics capabilities, with references to more detailed descriptions of the subsystems.

We report the observation of the X(3872) in the J/psipi(+)pi(-) channel, with J/psi decaying to mu(+)mu(-), in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV. Using approximately 230 pb(-1) of data collected with the Run II D0 detector, we observe 522+/-100 X(3872) candidates. The mass difference between the X(3872) state and the J/psi is measured to be 774.9+/-3.1(stat)+/-3.0(syst) MeV/c(2). We have investigated the production and decay characteristics of the X(3872) and find them to be similar to those of the psi(2S) state.

The DØ detector
The DØ detector is a large general purpose detector for the study of short-distance phenomena in high energy antiproton-proton collisions, now in operation at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The detector focusses upon the detection of electrons, muons, jets and missing transverse momentum. We describe the design and performance of the major elements of the detector, including the tracking chambers, transition radiation detector, liquid argon calorimetry and muon detection. The associated electronics, triggering systems and data acquisition systems are presented. The global mechanical, high voltage, and experiment monitoring and control systems which support the detector are described. We also discuss the design and implementation of software and software support systems that are specific to DØ.

Inclusive<i>J</i>/ψ, ψ(2<i>S</i>), and<i>b</i>-quark production in<i>p</i>¯<i>p</i>collisions at √<i>s</i>=1.8 TeV
Inclusive J/\ensuremath{\psi} and \ensuremath{\psi}(2S) production has been studied in p\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}p collisions at \ensuremath{\surd}s =1.8 TeV using 2.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.2 ${\mathrm{pb}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$ of data taken with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The products of production cross section times branching fraction were measured as functions of ${\mathit{P}}_{\mathit{T}}$ for J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ and \ensuremath{\psi}(2S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$. In the kinematic range ${\mathit{P}}_{\mathit{T}}$&gt;6 GeV/c and \ensuremath{\Vert}\ensuremath{\eta}\ensuremath{\Vert}\ensuremath{\le}0.5 we get \ensuremath{\sigma}(p\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi} X)B(J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$) =6.88\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.23(stat${)}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1.08}^{+0.93}$(syst) nb, and \ensuremath{\sigma}(p\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)X)B(\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$) =0.232\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.051(stat${)}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}0.032}^{+0.029}$(syst)nb. From these values we calculate the inclusive b-quark production cross section.

We report on a measurement of the inclusive jet cross section in pp[over ] collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV using data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.70 fb;{-1}. The data cover jet transverse momenta from 50 to 600 GeV and jet rapidities in the range -2.4 to 2.4. Detailed studies of correlations between systematic uncertainties in transverse momentum and rapidity are presented, and the cross section measurements are found to be in good agreement with next-to-leading order QCD calculations.

Measurement of the Forward-Backward Charge Asymmetry in Top-Quark Pair Production
We present the first measurement of the integrated forward-backward charge asymmetry in top-quark–top-antiquark pair (t¯t) production in proton-antiproton (p¯p) collisions in the lepton+jets final state. Using a b-jet tagging algorithm and kinematic reconstruction assuming t¯t+X production and decay, a sample of 0.9 fb−1 of data, collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, is used to measure the asymmetry for different jet multiplicities. From an analysis of the flavor-tagged decay Bs0-->J/psiphi we obtain the width difference between the Bs0 light and heavy mass eigenstates, DeltaGammas = 0.19+/-0.07(stat)(-0.01)+0.02(syst) ps(-1), and the CP-violating phase, phi s= -0.57(-0.30)+0.24(stat)(-0.02)+0.08(syst). The allowed 90% CL intervals of DeltaGammas and phi s are 0.06 < DeltaGammas < 0.30 ps(-1) and -1.20 < phi s < 0.06, respectively. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.8 fb(-1) accumulated with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider.

Direct Limits on the<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msubsup><mml:mi>B</mml:mi><mml:mi>s</mml:mi><mml:mn>0</mml:mn></mml:msubsup></mml:math>Oscillation Frequency
We report results of a study of the B(s)(0) oscillation frequency using a large sample of B(s)(0) semileptonic decays corresponding to approximately 1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider in 2002-2006. The amplitude method gives a lower limit on the B(s)(0) oscillation frequency at 14.8 ps(-1) at the 95% C.L. At delta m(s) = 19 ps(-1), the amplitude deviates from the hypothesis A= 0(1) by 2.5 (1.6) standard deviations, corresponding to a two-sided C.L. of 1% (10%). A likelihood scan over the oscillation frequency, delta m(s), gives a most probable value of 19 ps(-1) and a range of 17 < delta m(s) < 21 ps(-1)at the 90% C.L., assuming Gaussian uncertainties. This is the first direct two-sided bound measured by a single experiment. If delta m(s) lies above 22 ps(-1), then the probability that it would produce a likelihood minimum similar to the one observed in the interval 16-22 ps(-1) is (5.0 +/- 0.3)%.

Measurement of the antiproton-proton total cross section at √<i>s</i>=546 and 1800 GeV
We report a measurement of the proton-antiproton total cross section, VT, at c.m.s.energies fi = 546 and .I800 GeV.Using the luminosity'independent method, we find Q=61.26&0.93 mb at ,/k546GeV and 80.03f2.24mb at fi = 1800 GeV.In this energy range, the ratio v,l/UT increases from 0.2lOkO.002to 0.246~0.004.

Search for the top quark in the reaction<i>p¯p→</i>electron+jets at<i>√s =1.8</i>TeV
A search for the top quark in p\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}p collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV using the Collider Detector at Fermilab is described. A study of events selected by requiring an energetic electron, missing transverse energy, and two or more jets excludes at 95% confidence level the standard-model production and decay of tt\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} pairs if the top-quark mass is between 40 and 77 GeV/${c}^{2}$. The observed electron + multijet data are consistent with W-boson production.

Measurement of small angle antiproton-proton elastic scattering at √<i>s</i>=546 and 1800 GeV
Antiproton-proton elastic scattering was measured at c.m.s. energies √s =546 and 1800 GeV in the range of four-momentum transfer squared 0.025<-t<0.29 GeV2. The data are well described by the exponential form ebt with a slope b=15.28±0.58 (16.98±0.25) GeV−2 at √s =546 (1800) GeV. Measurement of the Top Quark Mass Using Dilepton Events
The D0 collaboration has performed a measurement of the top quark mass based on six candidate events for the process t tbar -&gt; b W+ bbar W-, where the W bosons decay to e nu or mu nu. This sample was collected during an exposure of the D0 detector to an integrated luminosity of 125 pb^-1 of sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV p-pbar collisions. We obtain mt = 168.4 +- 12.3 (stat) +- 3.7 (sys) GeV/c^2, consistent with the measurement obtained using single-lepton events. Combination of the single-lepton and dilepton results yields mt = 172.0 +- 7.5 GeV/c^2.

Direct measurement of the top quark mass by the DØ Collaboration
We determine the top quark mass mt using tt¯ pairs produced in the DØ detector by s=1.8TeV pp¯ collisions in a 125pb−1 exposure at the Fermilab Tevatron. We make a two constraint fit to mt in tt¯→bW+b¯W− final states with one W boson decaying to qq¯ and the other to eν or μν. Likelihood fits to the data yield mt(l+jets)=173.3±5.6(stat)±5.5(syst) GeV/c2. When this result is combined with an analysis of events in which both W bosons decay into leptons, we obtain mt=172.1±5.2(stat)±4.9(syst) GeV/c2. An alternate analysis, using three constraint fits to fixed top quark masses, gives mt(l+jets)=176.0±7.9(stat)±4.8(syst) GeV/c2, consistent with the above result. We present a measurement of the shape of the boson rapidity distribution for p¯p→Z/γ∗→e+e−+X events at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The measurement is made for events with electron-positron mass 71<Mee<111 GeV and uses 0.4 fb−1 of data collected at the Fermilab Tevatron collider with the D0 detector. This measurement significantly reduces the uncertainties on the rapidity distribution in the forward region compared with previous measurements. A data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 fb−1 collected by the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider was analyzed to search for squarks and gluinos produced in pp¯ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. No evidence for the production of such particles was observed in topologies involving jets and missing transverse energy, and 95% C.L. lower limits of 379 GeV and 308 GeV were set on the squark and gluino masses, respectively, within the framework of minimal supergravity with tanβ=3, A0=0, and μ<0. The corresponding previous limits are improved by 54 GeV and 67 GeV.

Evidence for Production of Single Top Quarks and First Direct Measurement of<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mo stretchy="false">|</mml:mo><mml:msub><mml:mi>V</mml:mi><mml:mrow><mml:mi>t</mml:mi><mml:mi>b</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:msub><mml:mo stretchy="false">|</mml:mo></mml:math>
The D0 Collaboration presents first evidence for the production of single top quarks at the Fermilab Tevatron pp[over ] collider. Using a 0.9 fb(-1) dataset, we apply a multivariate analysis to separate signal from background and measure sigma(pp[over ]-->tb+X,tqb+X)=4.9+/-1.4 pb. The probability to measure a cross section at this value or higher in the absence of a signal is 0.035%, corresponding to a 3.4 standard deviation significance. We use the cross section measurement to directly determine the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element that describes the Wtb coupling and find 0.68<|V(tb)|</=1 at 95% C.L. within the standard model.

We present a measurement of the shape of the $Z/{\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{*}$ boson transverse momentum (${q}_{T}$) distribution in $p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}Z/{\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{*}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}+X$ events at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV using $0.98\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The data are found to be consistent with the resummation prediction at low ${q}_{T}$, but above the perturbative QCD calculation in the region of ${q}_{T}&gt;30\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/c$. Using events with ${q}_{T}&lt;30\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/c$, we extract the value of ${g}_{2}$, one of the nonperturbative parameters for the resummation calculation. Data at large boson rapidity $y$ are compared with the prediction of resummation and with alternative models that employ a resummed form factor with modifications in the small Bjorken $x$ region of the proton wave function.

Direct Observation of the Strange<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mi>b</mml:mi></mml:math>Baryon<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msubsup><mml:mi>Ξ</mml:mi><mml:mi>b</mml:mi><mml:mo>−</mml:mo></mml:msubsup></mml:math>
We report the first direct observation of the strange b baryon Xi(b)- (Xi(b)+). We reconstruct the decay Xi(b)- -->J/psiXi-, with J/psi-->mu+mu-, and Xi--->Lambdapi--->ppi-pi- in pp collisions at square root of s =1.96 TeV. Using 1.3 fb(-1) of data collected by the D0 detector, we observe 15.2 +/- 4.4(stat)(-0.4)(+1.9)(syst) Xi(b)- candidates at a mass of 5.774 +/- 0.011(stat) +/- 0.015(syst) GeV. The significance of the observed signal is 5.5 sigma, equivalent to a probability of 3.3 x 10(-8) of it arising from a background fluctuation. Normalizing to the decay Lambda(b)-->J/psiLambda, we measure the relative rate sigma(Xi(b-) x B(Xi)b})- -->J/psiXi-)/sigma(Lambda(b)) x B(Lambda(b)-->J/psiLambda) = 0.28+/-0.09(stat)(-0.08)(+0.09)(syst).

Evidence for production of single top quarks
We present first evidence for the production of single top quarks in the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppbar collider. The standard model predicts that the electroweak interaction can produce a top quark together with an antibottom quark or light quark, without the antiparticle top quark partner that is always produced from strong coupling processes. Top quarks were first observed in pair production in 1995, and since then, single top quark production has been searched for in ever larger datasets. In this analysis, we select events from a 0.9 fb-1 dataset that have an electron or muon and missing transverse energy from the decay of a W boson from the top quark decay, and two, three, or four jets, with one or two of the jets identified as originating from a b hadron decay. The selected events are mostly backgrounds such as W+jets and ttbar events, which we separate from the expected signals using three multivariate analysis techniques: boosted decision trees, Bayesian neural networks, and matrix element calculations. A binned likelihood fit of the signal cross section plus background to the data from the combination of the results from the three analysis methods gives a cross section for single top quark production of 4.7 +- 1.3 pb. The probability to measure a cross section at this value or higher in the absence of signal is 0.014%, corresponding to a 3.6 standard deviation significance. Observation of the<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msub><mml:mi>B</mml:mi><mml:mi>c</mml:mi></mml:msub></mml:math>Meson in the Exclusive Decay<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msub><mml:mi>B</mml:mi><mml:mi>c</mml:mi></mml:msub><mml:mo>→</mml:mo><mml:mi>J</mml:mi><mml:mo>/</mml:mo><mml:mi>ψ</mml:mi><mml:mi>π</mml:mi></mml:math>
A fully reconstructed Bc-->J/psipi signal is observed with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp[over] collider using 1.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity. The signal consists of 54+/-12 candidates with a significance that exceeds 5 standard deviations, and confirms earlier observations of this decay. The measured mass of the Bc meson is 6300+/-14(stat)+/-5(syst) MeV/c2.

The b production cross section and angular correlations in p collisions at =
We present measurements of the bb production cross section and angular correlations using the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp Collider operating at s = 1.8 TeV. The b quark production cross section for |yb|<1.0 and pTb>6 GeV/c is extracted from single muon and dimuon data samples. The results agree in shape with the next-to-leading order QCD calculation of heavy flavor production but are greater than the central values of these predictions. The angular correlations between b and b quarks, measured from the azimuthal opening angle between their decay muons, also agree in shape with the next-to-leading order QCD prediction.

We present new results on the search for the top quark in p¯p collisions at √s=1.8 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 13.5±1.6 pb–1. We have considered t¯t production in the standard model using electron and muon dilepton decay channels ( t¯t→eμ+ jets, ee+ jets, and μμ+ jets) and single-lepton decay channels ( t¯t→e+ jets and μ+ jets) with and without tagging of b quark jets. From all channels we have nine events with an expected background of 3.8±0.9. We present a search for events consistent with the production and decay of the squarks and gluinos of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) in the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron $p\overline{p}$ collider. We examined data for events containing large missing transverse energy and three or more jets. We observed no excess of events above the expected yield from standard model processes. For a choice of MSSM parameter values, we set a lower limit at the 95% confidence level on the mass of the gluino of 144 GeV ${/c}^{2}$ for all squark masses and a lower limit of 212 GeV ${/c}^{2}$ for equal squark and gluino masses.

Measurement of<i>p</i>¯<i>p</i>single diffraction dissociation at √<i>s</i>=546 and 1800 GeV
We report a measurement of the diffraction dissociation differential cross section ${\mathit{d}}^{2}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\sigma}}}_{\mathrm{SD}}$/${\mathit{dM}}^{2}$dt for p\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}X at \ensuremath{\surd}s =546 and 1800 GeV, ${\mathit{M}}^{2}$/s0.2 and 0\ensuremath{\le}-t\ensuremath{\le}0.4 ${\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}$. Our results are compared to theoretical predictions and to extrapolations from experimental results at lower energies.

Direct Measurement of the Top Quark Mass
We measure the top quark mass m t using t t pairs produced in the DØ detector by √ s = 1.8 TeV pp collisions in a 125 pb -1 exposure at the Fermilab Tevatron.We make a two constraint fit to m t in t t → bW + bW -final states with one W decaying to q q and the other to eν or µν.Events are binned in fit mass versus a measure of probability for events to be signal rather than background.Likelihood fits to the data yield m t = 173.3± 5.6 (stat) ± 6.2 (syst) GeV/c 2 .

We report a measurement of the inclusive muon and b-quark production cross sections in pp¯ collisions at s=1.8 TeV using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The inclusive muon spectrum extends over the kinematic range |yμ|<0.8 and 3.5<pTμ<60GeV/c, and is well described by the expected contributions from various known sources. We have studied Jψ production in pp collisions at s = 1.8 TeV with the DØ detector at Fermilab using μ+μ− data. We have measured the inclusive Jψ production cross section as a function of Jψ transverse momentum, pT. For the kinematic range pT > 8 GeV/c and |η| < 0.6 we obtain σ(pp → Jψ + X) · Br(Jψ → μ+μ−) = 2.08 ± 0.17(stat) ± 0.46(syst) nb. Using the muon impact parameter we have estimated the fraction of Jψ mesons coming from B meson decays to be fb = 0.35 ± 0.09(stat)±0.10(syst) and inferred the inclusive b production cross section. From the information on the event topology the fraction of nonisolated Jψ events has been measured to be fnonisol = 0.64 ± 0.08(stat)±0.06(syst). We have also obtained the fraction of Jψ events resulting from radiative decays of χc states, fχ = 0.32 ± 0.07(stat)±0.07(syst). We discuss the implications of our measurements for charmonium production processes.

We report the full reconstruction of ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\chi}}}_{\mathit{c}}$ mesons through the decay chain ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\chi}}}_{\mathit{c}}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi} \ensuremath{\gamma}, J/\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\mu}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$, using data obtained at the Collider Detector at Fermilab in 2.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.2 ${\mathrm{pb}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$ of p\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}p collisions at \ensuremath{\surd}s =1.8 TeV. This exclusive ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\chi}}}_{\mathit{c}}$ sample is used to measure the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\chi}}}_{\mathit{c}}$-meson production cross section times branching fractions. We obtain \ensuremath{\sigma}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}B=3.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.4(stat${)}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1.1}^{+1.2}$(syst) nb for ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\chi}}}_{\mathit{c}}$ mesons decaying to J/\ensuremath{\psi} with ${\mathit{p}}_{\mathit{T}}$&gt;6.0 GeV/c and pseudorapidity \ensuremath{\Vert}\ensuremath{\eta}\ensuremath{\Vert}0.5. From this and the inclusive J/\ensuremath{\psi} cross section we calculate the inclusive b-quark cross section to be 12.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}4.5 \ensuremath{\mu}b for ${\mathit{p}}_{\mathit{T}}^{\mathit{b}}$&gt;8.5 GeV/c and \ensuremath{\Vert}${\mathit{y}}^{\mathit{b}}$\ensuremath{\Vert}1.

Inclusive jet cross section in<i>p</i>¯<i>p</i>collisions at √<i>s</i>=1.8 TeV
We present a measurement of the inclusive jet cross section in p¯p collisions at √s =1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron using the Collider Detector at Fermilab. Good agreement is seen with the predictions of recent next-to-leading-order [O(α3s)] QCD predictions. The dependence of the cross section on clustering cone size is reported for the first time. Correlations in the azimuthal angle between the two largest transverse momentum jets have been measured using the D0 detector in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=1.96\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{TeV}$. The analysis is based on an inclusive dijet event sample in the central rapidity region corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $150\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$. Azimuthal correlations are stronger at larger transverse momenta. These are well described in perturbative QCD at next-to-leading order in the strong coupling constant, except at large azimuthal differences where contributions with low transverse momentum are significant.

We report the direct observation of the excited $L=1$ state ${B}_{s2}^{*}$ in fully reconstructed decays to ${B}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$. The mass of the ${B}_{s2}^{*}$ meson is measured to be $5839.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.1(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.7(\mathrm{syst})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$, and its production rate relative to the ${B}^{+}$ meson is measured to be $[1.15\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.23(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.13(\mathrm{syst})]%$.

Measurement of the muon charge asymmetry from<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mi>W</mml:mi></mml:math>boson decays
We present a measurement of the muon charge asymmetry from W boson decays using 0.3 fb−1 of data collected at s=1.96 GeV between 2002 and 2004 with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp¯ Collider. We compare our findings with expectations from next-to-leading-order calculations performed using the CTEQ6.1M and MRST04 NLO parton distribution functions. Search for Charged Higgs Bosons in Decays of Top Quark Pairs
We present a search for charged Higgs bosons in decays of pair-produced top quarks using $109.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}5.8{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data recorded from $p\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1.8\mathrm{TeV}$ by the D0 detector during 1992--1996 at the Fermilab Tevatron. No evidence is found for charged Higgs production, and most parts of the $[{M}_{{H}^{+}},\mathrm{tan}\ensuremath{\beta}]$ parameter space where the decay $t\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{H}^{+}b$ has a branching fraction close to or larger than that for $t\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{W}^{+}b$ are excluded at $95%$ confidence level. Assuming ${m}_{t}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}175\mathrm{GeV}$ and $\ensuremath{\sigma}(p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}t\overline{t})\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}5.5\mathrm{pb}$, for ${M}_{{H}^{+}}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}60\mathrm{GeV}$, we exclude $\mathrm{tan}\ensuremath{\beta}&lt;0.97$ and $\mathrm{tan}\ensuremath{\beta}&gt;40.9$.

Measurement of the top quark mass in the dilepton channel
We report a measurement of the top quark mass using six candidate events for the process $p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}t\overline{t}+\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{X}{l}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu}{\mathrm{bl}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}\overline{b}+X$, observed in the D0 experiment at the Fermilab $p\overline{p}$ collider. Using maximum likelihood fits to the dynamics of the decays, we measure a mass for the top quark of ${m}_{t}=168.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}12.3(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3.6(\mathrm{syst}) \mathrm{Gev}$. We combine this result with our previous measurement in the $t\overline{t}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}l+\mathrm{jets}$ channel to obtain ${m}_{t}=172.1\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}7.1 \mathrm{GeV}$ as the best value of the mass of the top quark measured by D0.

Search for Light Top Squarks inpp¯Collisions at√s=1.8TeV
We present a search for pair produced top squarks, the supersymmetric partners of the top quark, using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron $p\overline{p}$ collider. We consider a scenario in which the lighter of the two top squarks ${\stackrel{\ifmmode \tilde{}\else \~{}\fi{}}{t}}_{1}$ decays with 100% branching fraction to a charm quark and the lightest neutralino ${\stackrel{\ifmmode \tilde{}\else \~{}\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\chi}}}_{1}^{0}$ yielding a signal of two acollinear jets with missing transverse energy. We observe 3 events while we expect $3.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.2$ events from the known standard model processes. We exclude at the 95% confidence level a significant region of the ${m}_{{\stackrel{\ifmmode \tilde{}\else \~{}\fi{}}{t}}_{1}}$- ${m}_{{\stackrel{\ifmmode \tilde{}\else \~{}\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\chi}}}_{1}^{0}}$ parameter space. The highest ${m}_{{\stackrel{\ifmmode \tilde{}\else \~{}\fi{}}{t}}_{1}}$ value we exclude is $93\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$ with a corresponding ${m}_{{\stackrel{\ifmmode \tilde{}\else \~{}\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\chi}}}_{1}^{0}}$ value of $8\mathrm{G}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{V}/{c}^{2}$.

We report a new measurement of the pseudorapidity (eta) and transverse-energy ( E(T)) dependence of the inclusive jet production cross section in pp(macro) collisions at square root of s = 1.8 TeV using 95 pb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The differential cross section d(2)sigma/(dE(T)d eta) is presented up to eta = 3, significantly extending previous measurements. The results are in good overall agreement with next-to-leading order predictions from QCD and indicate a preference for certain parton distribution functions.

Top quark search with the D0 1992–1993 data sample
We present results on the search for the top quark in pp\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} collisions at \ensuremath{\surd}s =1.8 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 13.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.6 ${\mathrm{pb}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$. We have considered tt\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} production in the standard model using electron and muon dilepton decay channels (tt\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}e\ensuremath{\mu}+jets, ee+jets, and \ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\mu}+jets) and single-lepton decay channels (tt\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}e+jets and \ensuremath{\mu}+jets) with and without tagging of b quark jets. An analysis of these data optimized for top quark masses below 140 GeV/${\mathit{c}}^{2}$ gives a lower top quark mass limit of 128 GeV/${\mathit{c}}^{2}$. An analysis optimized for higher top quark masses yields 9 events with an expected background of 3.8\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9. If we assume that the excess is due to tt\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{} production, and assuming a top quark mass of 180 GeV/${\mathit{c}}^{2}$, we obtain a cross section of 8.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}5.1 pb.

A search for pair production of doubly-charged Higgs bosons in the process p pbar to H++H-- to mu+mu+mu-mu- is performed with the D0 Run II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The analysis is based on a sample of inclusive di-muon data collected at an energy of sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 113 pb-1. In the absence of a signal, 95 % confidence level mass limits of M(H++L)>118.4 GeV/c2 and M(H++R)>98.2 GeV/c2 are set for left-handed and right-handed doubly-charged Higgs bosons, respectively, assuming 100% branching into muon pairs.

We present the first experimental discrimination between the 2e/3 and 4e/3 top quark electric charge scenarios, using top quark pairs (tt¯) produced in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV by the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We use 370 pb−1 of data collected by the D0 experiment and select events with at least one high transverse momentum electron or muon, high transverse energy imbalance, and four or more jets. We discriminate between b- and b¯-quark jets by using the charge and momenta of tracks within the jet cones. The data are consistent with the expected electric charge, |q|=2e/3. We exclude, at the 92% C.L., that the sample is solely due to the production of exotic quark pairs QQ¯ with |q|=4e/3. This Letter presents the first strong evidence for the resolution of the excited $B$ mesons ${B}_{1}$ and ${B}_{2}^{*}$ as two separate states in fully reconstructed decays to ${B}^{+(*)}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$. The mass of ${B}_{1}$ is measured to be $5720.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.4\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$ and the mass difference $\ensuremath{\Delta}M$ between ${B}_{2}^{*}$ and ${B}_{1}$ is $26.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3.1\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$, giving the mass of the ${B}_{2}^{*}$ as $5746.8\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.7\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/{c}^{2}$. The production rate for ${B}_{1}$ and ${B}_{2}^{*}$ mesons is determined to be a fraction $(13.9\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.9\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}3.2)%$ of the production rate of the ${B}^{+}$ meson.

Measurement of the Lifetime of the<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msubsup><mml:mi>B</mml:mi><mml:mi>c</mml:mi><mml:mo>±</mml:mo></mml:msubsup></mml:math>Meson in the Semileptonic Decay Channel
Using approximately 1.3 fb(-1) of data collected by the D0 detector between 2002 and 2006, we measure the lifetime of the Bc+/- meson in the Bc-/+-->J/psimicro+/-+X final state. A simultaneous unbinned likelihood fit to the J/psi+micro invariant mass and lifetime distributions yields a signal of 881+/-80(stat) candidates and a lifetime measurement of tau(Bc+/-)=0.448(-0.036)(+0.038)(stat)+/-0.032(syst) ps.

We present a search for the pair production of scalar top quarks, t˜, using 995 pb−1 of data collected in pp¯ collisions with the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at s=1.96TeV. Both scalar top quarks are assumed to decay into a charm quark and a neutralino (χ˜10), where χ˜10 is the lightest supersymmetric particle. This leads to a final state with two acoplanar charm jets and missing transverse energy. We find the yield of such events to be consistent with the standard model expectation, and exclude sets of t˜ and χ˜10 masses at the 95% C.L. that substantially extend the domain excluded by previous searches.

Lifetime Difference and<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mi>C</mml:mi><mml:mi>P</mml:mi></mml:math>-Violating Phase in the<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msubsup><mml:mi>B</mml:mi><mml:mi>s</mml:mi><mml:mn>0</mml:mn></mml:msubsup></mml:math>System
From an analysis of the decay B0s→J/ψϕ, we obtain the width difference between the light and heavy mass eigenstates ΔΓ≡(ΓL−ΓH)=0.17±0.09(stat)±0.02(syst) ps−1 and the CP-violating phase ϕs=−0.79±0.56(stat)+0.14−0.01(syst). Under the hypothesis of no CP violation (ϕs≡0), we obtain 1/¯¯¯Γ=¯τ(B0s)=1.52±0.08(stat)+0.01−0.03(syst) ps and ΔΓ=0.12+0.08−0.10(stat)±0.02(syst) ps−1. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of about 1.1 fb−1 accumulated with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We present a study of the polarization of the Υ(1S) and Υ(2S) states using a 1.3 fb−1 data sample collected by the D0 experiment in 2002–2006 during run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We measure the polarization parameter α=(σT−2σL)/(σT+2σL), where σT and σL are the transversely and longitudinally polarized components of the production cross section, as a function of the transverse momentum (pΥT) for the Υ(1S) and Υ(2S). Significant pΥT-dependent longitudinal polarization is observed for the Υ(1S). Search for<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msup><mml:mi>W</mml:mi><mml:mo>′</mml:mo></mml:msup></mml:math>Boson Resonances Decaying to a Top Quark and a Bottom Quark
We search for the production of a heavy W′ gauge boson that decays to third generation quarks in 0.9 fb−1 of pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV, collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We find no significant excess in the final-state invariant mass distribution and set upper limits on the production cross section times branching fraction. For a left-handed W′ boson with SM couplings, we set a lower mass limit of 731 GeV. For right-handed W′ bosons, we set lower mass limits of 739 GeV if the W′ boson decays to both leptons and quarks and 768 GeV if the W′ boson decays only to quarks. We present a measurement of the $t\overline{t}$ production cross section in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1.8\mathrm{TeV}$ by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. The measurement is based on data from an integrated luminosity of approximately $125{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ accumulated during the 1992--1996 collider run. We observe 39 $t\overline{t}$ candidate events in the dilepton and $\mathrm{lepton}+\mathrm{jets}$ decay channels with an expected background of $13.7\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.2$ events. For a top quark mass of $173.3\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$, we measure the $t\overline{t}$ production cross section to be $5.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.8\mathrm{pb}$.

Bottom-quark production in $\overline{p}p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1.8\mathrm{TeV}$ is studied with $5{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data collected in 1995 by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The differential production cross section for $b$ jets in the central rapidity region ( $|{y}^{b}|&lt;1$) as a function of jet transverse energy is extracted from a muon-tagged jet sample. Within experimental and theoretical uncertainties, D0 results are found to be higher than, but compatible with, next-to-leading-order QCD predictions.

Search for Large Extra Dimensions in Dielectron and Diphoton Production
We report a search for effects of large extra spatial dimensions in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV with the D0 detector, using events containing a pair of electrons or photons. The data are in good agreement with the expected background and do not exhibit evidence for large extra dimensions. We set the most restrictive lower limits to date, at the 95% C.L. on the effective Planck scale between 1.0 and 1.4 TeV for several formalisms and numbers of extra dimensions.

We report on a search for right-handed W bosons (WR) with mass greater than 200GeV/c2. We used data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p¯p collider at √s=1.8TeV to search for WR decays into an electron and a massive right-handed neutrino W±R→e±NR. Using the inclusive electron data, we set mass limits independent of the NR decay: mWR>650GeV/c2 and mWR>720GeV/c2 at the 95% confidence level, valid for mNR<12mWR and mNR≪mWR, respectively. The latter also represents a new lower limit on the mass of a heavy left-handed W boson (W′) decaying into eν. Results are presented from analyses of jet data produced in pp ¯collisions at ͱsϭ630 and 1800 GeV collected with the DØ detector during the 1994 -1995 Fermilab Tevatron Collider run.We discuss the details of detector calibration, and jet selection criteria in measurements of various jet production cross sections at ͱsϭ630 and 1800 GeV.The inclusive jet cross sections, the dijet mass spectrum, the dijet angular distribu- tions, and the ratio of inclusive jet cross sections at ͱsϭ630 and 1800 GeV are compared to next-to-leading- order QCD predictions.The order ␣ s 3 calculations are in good agreement with the data.We also use the data at ͱsϭ1800 GeV to rule out models of quark compositeness with a contact interaction scale less than 2.2 TeV at the 95% confidence level.

We report on measurements on inclusive cross sections times branching fractions into electrons for W and Z bosons produced in pp¯ collisions at s=1.8TeV. From an integrated luminosity of 84.5 pb−1 recorded in 1994–1995 using the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron, we determine σ(pp¯→W+X)×B(W→eν)=2310±10(stat)±50(syst)±100(lum)pb and σ(pp¯→Z+X)×B(Z→ee)=221±3(stat)±4(syst)±10(lum)pb. From these, we derive σ(pp¯→W+X)×B(W→eν)/σ(pp¯→Z+X)×B(Z→ee)=10.43±0.15(stat)±0.20(syst)±0.10(NLO), B(W→eν)=0.1044±0.0015(stat)±0.0020(syst)±0.0017(theory)±0.0010(NLO), and ΓW=2.169±0.031(stat)±0.042(syst)±0.041(theory)±0.022(NLO)GeV. We use the latter to set a 95% confidence level upper limit on the partial decay width of the W boson into nonstandard model final states, ΓWinv, of 0.213 GeV. Combining these results with those from the 1992–1993 data gives σ(pp¯→W+X)×B(W→eν)/σ(pp¯→Z+X)×B(Z→ee)=10.51±0.25, ΓW=2.152±0.066GeV, and a 95% C.L. upper limit on ΓWinv of 0.191 GeV. Using a sample with a luminosity of 505 nb−1 taken at s=630GeV, we measure σ(pp¯→W+X)×B(W→eν)=658±67pb. The inclusive cross sections times leptonic branching ratios for W and Z boson production in PbarP collisions at Sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV were measured using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider: Sigma_W*B(W->e, nu) = 2.36 +/- 0.07 +/- 0.13 nb, Sigma_W*B(W->mu,nu) = 2.09 +/- 0.23 +/- 0.11 nb, Sigma_Z*B(Z-> e, e) = 0.218 +/- 0.011 +/- 0.012 nb, Sigma_Z*B(Z->mu,mu) = 0.178 +/- 0.030 +/- 0.009 nb. The first error is the combined statistical and systematic uncertainty, and the second reflects the uncertainty in the luminosity. For the combined electron and muon analyses we find: [Sigma_W*B(W->l,nu)]/[Sigma_Z*B(Z->l,l)] = 10.90 +/- 0.49. Assuming Standard Model couplings, this result is used to determine the width of the W boson: Gamma(W) = 2.044 +/- 0.093 GeV.

Measurement of the High-Mass Drell-Yan Cross Section and Limits on Quark-Electron Compositeness Scales
We present a measurement of the Drell-Yan cross section at high dielectron invariant mass using $120\mathrm{pb}{}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data collected in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1.8\mathrm{TeV}$ by the D0 Collaboration during 1992--1996. No deviation from standard model expectations is observed. We use the data to set limits on the quark-electron compositeness scale. The $95%$ confidence level lower limits on the compositeness scale vary between 3.3 and 6.1 TeV depending on the assumed form of the effective contact interaction.

Determination of the absolute jet energy scale in the DØ calorimeters
The DØ detector is used to study pp̄ collisions at the 1800 and 630 GeV center-of-mass energies available at the Fermilab Tevatron. To measure jets, the detector uses a sampling calorimeter composed of uranium and liquid argon as the passive and active media, respectively. Understanding the jet energy calibration is not only crucial for precision tests of QCD, but also for the measurement of particle masses and the determination of physics backgrounds associated with new phenomena. This paper describes the energy calibration of jets observed with the DØ detector at the two pp̄ center-of-mass energies in the transverse energy and pseudorapidity range ET>8 GeV and |η|<3.

Using the D0 detector at the 1.8 TeV $\overline{p}p$ Fermilab Tevatron collider, we have measured the inclusive dijet mass spectrum in the central pseudorapidity region $|{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{\mathrm{jet}}|&lt;1.0$ for dijet masses greater than $200\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$. We have also measured the ratio of spectra $\ensuremath{\sigma}(|{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{\mathrm{jet}}|&lt;0.5)/\ensuremath{\sigma}(0.5&lt;|{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{\mathrm{jet}}|&lt;1.0)$. The order ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}^{3}$ quantum chromodynamics predictions are in good agreement with the data and we rule out models of quark compositeness with a contact interaction scale $&lt;2.4\mathrm{TeV}$ at the $95%$ confidence level.

We have made a precise measurement of the central inclusive jet cross section at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV. The measurement is based on an integrated luminosity of 92 pb-1 collected at the Fermilab Tevatron pbar-p Collider with the D-Zero detector. The cross section, reported as a function of jet transverse energy (ET >= 60 GeV) in the pseudorapidity interval |eta| <= 0.5, is in good agreement with predictions from next-to-leading order quantum chromodynamics.

Search for single top quark production at DØ using neural networks
We present a search for electroweak production of single top quarks in ~90 pb^-1 of data collected with the DZero detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Using arrays of neural networks to separate signals from backgrounds, we set upper limits on the cross sections of 17 pb for the s-channel process ppbar->tb+X, and 22 pb for the t-channel process ppbar->tqb+X, both at the 95% confidence level.

Combination of CDF and D0 results on the<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mi>W</mml:mi></mml:math>boson mass and width
The results based on 1992-95 data (Run 1) from the CDF and DO experiments on the measurements of the W boson mass and width are presented, along with the combined results. We report a Tevatron collider average M_W = 80.456 +- 0.059 GeV. We also report the Tevatron collider average of the directly measured W boson width Gamma_W = 2.115 +- 0.105 GeV. We describe a new joint analysis of the direct W mass and width measurements. Assuming the validity of the standard model, we combine the directly measured W boson width with the width extracted from the ratio of W and Z boson leptonic partial cross sections. This combined result for the Tevatron is Gamma_W = 2.135 +- 0.050 GeV. Finally, we use the measurements of the direct total W width and the leptonic branching ratio to extract the leptonic partial width Gamma(W -> e nu) = 224 +- 13 MeV.

We present the results of a search for the flavor-changing neutral current decay B0s→μ+μ− using a data set with integrated luminosity of 240 pb−1 of p¯p collisions at √s=1.96 TeV collected with the D0 detector in run II of the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We find the upper limit on the branching fraction to be B(B0s→μ+μ−)≤5.0×10−7 at the 95% C.L. assuming no contributions from the decay B0d→μ+μ− in the signal region. Helicity of the W boson in lepton + jets <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" altimg="si1.gif" overflow="scroll"><mml:mi>t</mml:mi><mml:mover accent="true"><mml:mi>t</mml:mi><mml:mo>¯</mml:mo></mml:mover></mml:math> events
We examine properties of tt¯ candidate events in lepton + jets final states to establish the helicities of W bosons in t→W+b decays. Our analysis is based on a direct calculation of a probability density for each event to correspond to a tt¯ final state, as a function of the helicity of the W boson. Using the 125 events/pb of data collected by the DØ experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron pp¯ Collider at s=1.8TeV, we obtain a longitudinal helicity fraction F0=0.56±0.31, consistent with the prediction of F0=0.70 from the standard model.

Search for new particles in the two-jet decay channel with the DØ detector
We present the results of a search for the production of new particles decaying into two jets in $\overline{p}p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.8\mathrm{TeV},$ using the D\O{} 1992--1995 data set corresponding to ${109\mathrm{}\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}.$ We exclude at the 95% confidence level the production of excited quarks ${(q}^{*})$ with masses below 775 GeV/${c}^{2},$ the most restrictive limit to date. We also exclude standard-model-like ${W}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ ${(Z}^{\ensuremath{'}})$ bosons with masses between 300 and 800 GeV/${c}^{2}$ (400 and 640 GeV/${c}^{2}).$ A ${W}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ boson with mass $&lt;786\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$ has been excluded by previous measurements, and our lower limit is therefore the most stringent to date.

Search for Large Extra Dimensions in the<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mtext mathvariant="normal">Monojet</mml:mtext><mml:mo>+</mml:mo><mml:msub><mml:mi>E̸</mml:mi><mml:mi>T</mml:mi></mml:msub></mml:math>Channel with the DØ Detector
We present a search for large extra dimensions (ED) in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV using data collected by the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron in 1994-1996. Data corresponding to 78.8+/-3.9 pb(-1) are examined for events with large missing transverse energy, one high-p(T) jet, and no isolated muons. There is no excess observed beyond expectation from the standard model, and we place lower limits on the fundamental Planck scale of 1.0 and 0.6 TeV for 2 and 7 ED, respectively.

Measurement of the top quark mass in the<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mtext mathvariant="normal">lepton</mml:mtext><mml:mo>+</mml:mo><mml:mtext mathvariant="normal">jets</mml:mtext></mml:math>final state with the matrix element method
We present a measurement of the top quark mass with the matrix element method in the $\mathrm{\text{lepton}}+\mathrm{\text{jets}}$ final state. As the energy scale for calorimeter jets represents the dominant source of systematic uncertainty, the matrix element likelihood is extended by an additional parameter, which is defined as a global multiplicative factor applied to the standard energy scale. The top quark mass is obtained from a fit that yields the combined statistical and systematic jet energy scale uncertainty. Using a data set of $0.4\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ taken with the D0 experiment at Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, the mass of the top quark is measured using topological information to be: ${m}_{\mathrm{top}}^{\ensuremath{\ell}+\mathrm{jets}}(\mathrm{topo})={169.2}_{\ensuremath{-}7.4}^{+5.0}(\mathrm{stat}+JES{)}_{\ensuremath{-}1.4}^{+1.5}(\mathrm{syst})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$, and when information about identified $b$ jets is included: ${m}_{\mathrm{top}}^{\ensuremath{\ell}+\mathrm{jets}}(b\mathrm{\text{-tag}})={170.3}_{\ensuremath{-}4.5}^{+4.1}(\mathrm{stat}+\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}JES{)}_{\ensuremath{-}1.8}^{+1.2}(\mathrm{syst})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$. The measurements yield a jet energy scale consistent with the reference scale.

We present a measurement of the top quark pair production cross section in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV utilizing 425 pb-1 of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We consider the final state of the top quark pair containing one high-pT electron or muon and at least four jets. We exploit specific kinematic features of ttbar events to extract the cross section. For a top quark mass of 175 GeV, we measure sigma_ttbar = 6.4 +1.3-1.2(stat} +/- 0.7(syst)+/- 0.4(lum) pb in good agreement with the standard model prediction.

We search for the production of single top quarks via flavor-changing neutral current couplings of a gluon to the top quark and a charm ($c$) or up ($u$) quark. We analyze 230 pb$^{-1}$ of lepton + jets data from $\ppbar$ collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We observe no significant deviation from standard model predictions, and hence set upper limits on the anomalous coupling parameters $\kappacLambda$ and $\kappauLambda$, where $\kappag$ define the strength of $tcg$ and $tug$ couplings, and $\Lambda$ defines the scale of new physics. The limits at 95% C.L. are: $\kappacLambda < 0.15 \rm TeV^{-1}$ and $\kappauLambda < 0.037 \rm TeV^{-1}$.

We report the results of a search for pair production of doubly charged Higgs bosons via pp over-->H++H - - X-->mu+ mu+ mu- mu- X at sqrt s=1.96 TeV. We use a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.1 fb(-1) collected from 2002 to 2006 by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. In the absence of an excess above the standard model background, lower mass limits of M(H L +/- +/-) >150 GeV/c2 and M(H R+/- +/-) >127 GeV/c2 at 95% C.L. are set, respectively, for left-handed and right-handed doubly charged Higgs bosons assuming a 100% branching ratio into muons.

We present a search for a narrow-width heavy resonance decaying into top quark pairs (X→tt¯) in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96TeV using approximately 0.9fb−1 of data collected with the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. This analysis considers tt¯ candidate events in the lepton plus jets channel with at least one identified b jet and uses the tt¯ invariant mass distribution to search for evidence of resonant production. We find no evidence for a narrow resonance X decaying to tt¯. Therefore, we set upper limits on σX⋅B(X→tt¯) for different hypothesized resonance masses using a Bayesian approach. For a Topcolor-assisted technicolor model, the existence of a leptophobic Z′ boson with mass MZ′<700GeV and width ΓZ′=0.012MZ′ can be excluded at the 95% C.L.

Search for<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msup><mml:mi>W</mml:mi><mml:mo>′</mml:mo></mml:msup></mml:math>Bosons Decaying to an Electron and a Neutrino with the D0 Detector
This Letter describes the search for a new heavy charged gauge boson W' decaying into an electron and a neutrino. The data were collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp[over] Collider at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of about 1 fb(-1). Lacking any significant excess in the data in comparison with known processes, an upper limit is set on sigma_(W') x B(W')-->e nu), and a W' boson with mass below 1.00 TeV can be excluded at the 95% C.L., assuming standard-model-like couplings to fermions. This result significantly improves upon previous limits and is the most stringent to date.

We present results from a study of p¯p→Wγ+X events utilizing data corresponding to 0.7 fb−1 of integrated luminosity at √s=1.96 TeV collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We set limits on anomalous WWγ couplings at the 95% C.L. The one-dimensional 95% C.L. limits are 0.49<κγ<1.51 and −0.12<λγ<0.13. We measure the t¯t production cross section in p¯p collisions at √s=1.96 TeV in the lepton+jets channel. Two complementary methods discriminate between signal and background: b tagging and a kinematic likelihood discriminant. Based on 0.9 fb−1 of data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, we measure σt¯t=7.62±0.85 pb, assuming the current world average mt=172.6 GeV. Search for Squarks and Gluinos in Events Containing Jets and a Large Imbalance in Transverse Energy
Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $79{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$, D0 has searched for events containing multiple jets and large missing transverse energy in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1.8\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{TeV}$ at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Observing no significant excess beyond what is expected from the standard model, we set limits on the masses of squarks and gluinos and on the model parameters ${m}_{0}$ and ${m}_{1/2}$, in the framework of the minimal low-energy supergravity models of supersymmetry. For $\mathrm{tan}\ensuremath{\beta}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}2$ and ${A}_{0}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}0$, with $\ensuremath{\mu}&lt;0$, we exclude all models with ${m}_{\stackrel{\ifmmode \tilde{}\else \~{}\fi{}}{q}}&lt;250\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$. For models with equal squark and gluino masses, we exclude $m&lt;260\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$.

We present a measurement of the differential cross section as a function of transverse momentum of the Z boson in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV using data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider during 1994--1996. We find good agreement between our data and the NNLO resummation prediction and extract values of the non-perturbative parameters for the resummed prediction from a fit to the differential cross section.

Probing hard color-singlet exchange in p collisions at = 630 GeV and 1800 GeV
We present results on dijet production via hard color-singlet exchange in proton-antiproton collisions at s=630 GeV and 1800 GeV using the DØ detector. The fraction of dijet events produced via color-singlet exchange is measured as a function of jet transverse energy, separation in pseudorapidity between the two highest transverse energy jets, and proton-antiproton center-of-mass energy. The results are consistent with a color-singlet fraction that increases with an increasing fraction of quark-initiated processes and inconsistent with two-gluon models for the hard color-singlet.

We present a quasi-model-independent search for the physics responsible for electroweak symmetry breaking.We define final states to be studied, and construct a rule that identifies a set of relevant variables for any particular final state.A new algorithm ͑''SLEUTH''͒ searches for regions of excess in those variables and quantifies the significance of any detected excess.After demonstrating the sensitivity of the method, we apply it to the semi-inclusive channel eX collected in 108 pb Ϫ1 of pp ¯collisions at ͱsϭ1.8 TeV at the DO " experiment during 1992-1996 at the Fermilab Tevatron.We find no evidence of new high p T physics in this sample.

Ratio of Isolated Photon Cross Sections in pp¯ Collisions at √s=630 and 1800 GeV
The inclusive cross section for production of isolated photons has been measured in pp macro collisions at square root of s = 630 GeV with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The photons span a transverse energy (E(T)) range from 7-49 GeV and have pseudorapidity absolute value of eta < 2.5. This measurement is combined with the previous D0 result at square root of s = 1800 GeV to form a ratio of the cross sections. Comparison of next-to-leading-order QCD with the measured cross section at 630 GeV and the ratio of cross sections show satisfactory agreement in most of the E(T) range.

We report a new measurement of the $t\overline{t}$ production cross section in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV using events with one charged lepton (electron or muon), missing transverse energy, and jets. Using $425\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data collected using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, and enhancing the $t\overline{t}$ content of the sample by tagging $b$ jets with a secondary vertex tagging algorithm, the $t\overline{t}$ production cross section is measured to be ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{p\overline{p}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}t\overline{t}+X}=6.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9(\mathrm{stat}+\mathrm{syst})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.4(\mathrm{lum})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{pb}$. This cross section is the most precise D0 measurement to date for $t\overline{t}$ production and is in good agreement with standard model expectations.

Evidence for color coherence in<i>pp¯</i>collisions at √<i>s</i>=1.8 TeV
Color coherence effects in pp¯ collisions are observed and studied with CDF, the Collider Detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We demonstrate these effects by measuring spatial correlations between soft and leading jets in multijet events. We present a measurement of the cross section for production of isolated prompt photons in p\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}p collisions at \ensuremath{\surd}s =1.8 TeV. The cross section, measured as a function of transverse momentum (${\mathit{P}}_{\mathit{T}}$), agrees qualitatively with QCD calculations but has a steeper slope at low ${\mathit{P}}_{\mathit{T}}$.

We present measurements of the inclusive production cross sections of the Gamma(1S) bottomonium state in pp collisions at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV. Using the Gamma(1S) --> mu(+)mu(-) decay mode for a data sample of 159 +/- 10 pb(-1) collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider, we determine the differential cross sections as a function of the Gamma(1S) transverse momentum for three ranges of the Gamma(1S) rapidity: 0 < y(Gamma) < or = 0.6, 0.6 < y(Gamma) < or = 1.2, and 1.2 < y(Gamma) < or = 1.8.

Search for Neutral Supersymmetric Higgs Bosons in Multijet Events at<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:msqrt><mml:mi>s</mml:mi></mml:msqrt><mml:mo>=</mml:mo><mml:mn>1.96</mml:mn><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mi>TeV</mml:mi></mml:math>
We have performed a search for neutral Higgs bosons produced in association with bottom quarks in pp collisions, using 260 pb-1 of data collected with the D0 detector in Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The cross sections for these processes are enhanced in many extensions of the standard model (SM), such as in its minimal supersymmetric extension at large tanbeta. The results of our analysis agree with expectations from the SM, and we use our measurements to set upper limits on the production of neutral Higgs bosons in the mass range of 90 to 150 GeV.

We measure the dimuon charge asymmetry $A$ in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at a center of mass energy $\sqrt{s}=1960\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$. The data was recorded with the D0 detector and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of approximately $1.0\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$. Assuming that the asymmetry $A$ is due to asymmetric ${B}^{0}\ensuremath{\leftrightarrow}{\overline{B}}^{0}$ mixing and decay, we extract the $CP$-violation parameter of ${B}^{0}$ mixing and decay: $\frac{\ensuremath{\mathfrak{R}}({ϵ}_{{B}^{0}})}{1+|{ϵ}_{{B}^{0}}{|}^{2}}=\frac{{A}_{{B}^{0}}}{4}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\ensuremath{-}0.0023\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.0011(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.0008(\mathrm{syst}).$${A}_{{B}^{0}}$ is the dimuon charge asymmetry from decays of ${B}^{0}{\overline{B}}^{0}$ pairs. The general case, with $CP$ violation in both ${B}^{0}$ and ${B}_{s}^{0}$ systems, is also considered. Finally we obtain the forward-backward asymmetry that quantifies the tendency of ${\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}$ to go in the proton direction and ${\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ to go in the antiproton direction. The results are consistent with the standard model and constrain new physics.

We present the first simultaneous measurement of the ratio of branching fractions, R=B(t --> Wb)/B(t --> Wq), with q being a d, s, or b quark, and the top-quark pair production cross section sigma(tt[over]) in the lepton plus jets channel using 0.9 fb(-1) of pp[over] collision data at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV collected with the D0 detector. We extract R and sigma(tt[over]) by analyzing samples of events with 0, 1, and > or =2 identified b jets. We measure R=0.97(+0.09)/(-0.08)(stat+syst) and sigma(tt[over])=8.18(+0.09)(-0.84)(stat+syst) +/- 0.50(lumi) pb, in agreement with the standard model prediction.

We present a study of events with Z bosons and associated jets produced at the Fermilab Tevatron collider in pp¯ collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The data sample consists of nearly 14 000 Z/γ∗→e+e− candidates corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.4 fb−1 collected with the DØ detector. Ratios of the Z/γ∗+⩾n jet cross sections to the total inclusive Z/γ∗ cross section have been measured for n=1–4 jets, and found to be in good agreement with a next-to-leading order QCD calculation and with a tree-level QCD prediction with parton shower simulation and hadronization.

We present a search for the production of neutral Higgs bosons ϕ decaying into τ+τ− final states in p¯p collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 1 fb−1, were collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Limits on the production cross section times branching ratio are set. Model-Independent Measurement of the<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mi>W</mml:mi></mml:math>-Boson Helicity in Top-Quark Decays at D0
We present the first model-independent measurement of the helicity of W bosons produced in top quark decays, based on a 1 fb(-1) sample of candidate tt events in the dilepton and lepton plus jets channels collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp Collider. We reconstruct the angle theta(*) between the momenta of the down-type fermion and the top quark in the W boson rest frame for each top quark decay. A fit of the resulting costheta(*) distribution finds that the fraction of longitudinal W bosons f(0)=0.425+/-0.166(stat)+/-0.102(syst) and the fraction of right-handed W bosons f(+)=0.119+/-0.090(stat)+/-0.053(syst), which is consistent at the 30% C.L. with the standard model.

We present a measurement of the fraction of inclusive W+jets events produced with net charm quantum number ±1, denoted W+c-jet, in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV using approximately 1 fb−1 of data collected by the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We identify the W+jets events via the leptonic W boson decays. Candidate W+c-jet events are selected by requiring a jet containing a muon in association with a reconstructed W boson and exploiting the charge correlation between this muon and W boson decay lepton to perform a nearly model-independent background subtraction. We measure the fraction of W+c-jet events in the inclusive W+jets sample for jet pT>20 GeV and pseudorapidity |η|<2.5 to be 0.074±0.019(stat.)±0.0140.012(syst.), in agreement with theoretical predictions. The probability that background fluctuations could produce the observed fraction of W+c-jet events is estimated to be 2.5×10−4, which corresponds to a 3.5σ statistical significance.

Construction and commissioning of CMS CE prototype silicon modules
Abstract As part of its HL-LHC upgrade program, the CMS collaboration is developing a High Granularity Calorimeter (CE) to replace the existing endcap calorimeters. The CE is a sampling calorimeter with unprecedented transverse and longitudinal readout for both electromagnetic (CE-E) and hadronic (CE-H) compartments. The calorimeter will be built with ∼30,000 hexagonal silicon modules. Prototype modules have been constructed with 6-inch hexagonal silicon sensors with cell areas of 1.1 cm 2 , and the SKIROC2-CMS readout ASIC. Beam tests of different sampling configurations were conducted with the prototype modules at DESY and CERN in 2017 and 2018. This paper describes the construction and commissioning of the CE calorimeter prototype, the silicon modules used in the construction, their basic performance, and the methods used for their calibration.

We have measured the W W gauge boson coupling parameters using p p ! ` + X (`= e; ) events at p s = 1:8 TeV.The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 89:1 pb 1 , were collected using the D detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider.The measured cross section times branching ratio for p p ! W + X with p T > 10 GeV/c and R ` > 0:7 is 11:8 +1:7 1:6 2:0 pb, in agreement with the Standard Model prediction.The one degree of freedom 95% con dence level limits on individual CP-conserving parameters are 0:98 < < 1:01 and 0:33 < < 0:31.Similar limits are set on the CP-violating coupling parameters.

We have searched for first generation scalar leptoquark (LQ) pairs in the $e\ensuremath{\nu}+\mathrm{jets}$ channel using $p\overline{p}$ collider data $(\ensuremath{\int}L\mathrm{dt}\ensuremath{\approx}115{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1})$ collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron during 1992--1996. The analysis yields no candidate events. We combine the results with those from the $ee+\mathrm{jets}$ and $\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\nu}+\mathrm{jets}$ channels to obtain 95% confidence level (C.L.) upper limits on the LQ pair production cross section as a function of mass and of $\ensuremath{\beta}$, the branching fraction to a charged lepton. Comparing with the next-to-leading order theory, we set 95% C.L. lower limits on the LQ mass of 225, 204, and $79\mathrm{GeV}{/c}^{2}$ for $\ensuremath{\beta}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1$, $\frac{1}{2}$, and 0, respectively.

Comparison of jet production in<i>p</i>¯<i>p</i>collisions at √<i>s</i>=546 and 1800 GeV
Inclusive jet cross sections have been measured in p\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}p collisions at \ensuremath{\surd}s =546 and 1800 GeV, using the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The ratio of jet cross sections is compared to predictions from simple scaling and O(${\mathit{a}}_{\mathit{s}}^{3}$) QCD. Our data exclude scaling and lie (1.5--2.4)\ensuremath{\sigma} below a range of QCD predictions.

Improved<mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mml:mi>W</mml:mi></mml:math>boson mass measurement with the DØ detector
We have measured the W boson mass using the DØ detector and a data sample of 82 pb−1 from the Fermilab Tevatron collider. This measurement uses W→eν decays, where the electron is close to a boundary of a central electromagnetic calorimeter module. Such “edge” electrons have not been used in any previous DØ analysis, and represent a 14% increase in the W boson sample size. For these electrons, new response and resolution parameters are determined, and revised backgrounds and underlying event energy flow measurements are made. When the current measurement is combined with previous DØ W boson mass measurements, we obtain MW=80.483±0.084 GeV. Transverse energy distributions within jets in p collisions at =1.8
The distribution of the transverse energy in jets has been measured in pp collisions at s=1.8 TeV TeV using the DØ detector at Fermilab. This measurement of the jet shape is made as a function of jet transverse energy in both the central and forward rapidity regions. Jets are shown to narrow both with increasing transverse energy and with increasing rapidity. Next-to-leading order partonic QCD calculations are compared to the data. Although the calculations qualitatively describe the data, they are shown to be very dependent on renormalization scale, parton clustering algorithm, and jet direction definition and they fail to describe the data in all regions consistently.

We present a search for electroweak production of single top quarks in the s-channel and t-channel using neural networks for signal–background separation. We have analyzed 230 pb−1 of data collected with the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV and find no evidence for a single top quark signal. The resulting 95% confidence level upper limits on the single top quark production cross sections are 6.4 pb in the s-channel and 5.0 pb in the t-channel.

The results of a search for squarks and gluinos using data from pp¯ collisions recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV by the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider are reported. The topologies analyzed consist of acoplanar-jet and multijet events with large missing transverse energy. No evidence for the production of squarks or gluinos was found in a data sample of 310 pb−1. Lower limits of 325 and 241 GeV were derived at the 95% C.L. on the squark and gluino masses, respectively, within the framework of minimal supergravity with tanβ=3, A0=0, and μ<0.

We present a measurement of the top quark pair (tt¯) production cross section (σtt¯) in pp¯ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV using 230 pb−1 of data collected by the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We select events with one charged lepton (electron or muon), large missing transverse energy, and at least four jets, and extract the tt¯ content of the sample based on the kinematic characteristics of the events. For a top quark mass of 175 GeV, we measure σtt¯=6.7−1.3+1.4(stat)−1.1+1.6(syst)±0.4(lumi)pb, in good agreement with the standard model prediction.

We present a measurement of the top quark pair (tt¯) production cross section (σtt¯) in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96TeV using 230 pb−1 of data collected by the DØ experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We select events with one charged lepton (electron or muon), missing transverse energy, and jets in the final state. We employ lifetime-based b-jet identification techniques to further enhance the tt¯ purity of the selected sample. For a top quark mass of 175 GeV, we measure σtt¯=8.6−1.5+1.6(stat.+syst.)±0.6(lumi.)pb, in agreement with the standard model expectation.
