Barbara Bessie Kedgley (nee Holden) was born in Hamilton, in 1922. Talks about childhood memories, her family members, grandparent's Rukahia swamp farm and father's experiences in World War I. Recounts early sporting successes. Discusses tertiary study in prosthetic dentistry at Otago Univeristy, boarding at Saint Margaret's Presbyterian Women's College. Outlines marriage at twenty-two to Edwin (Ted) Kedgley, and appointment to Wellington hospital during World War II.
