Stepwise Pulse-Width Modulation in Quasi-Resonant Pulsed Converters Using Switched Capacitors

The problems dealing with usage the pulse-width modulation in quasi-resonant converters are considered. A deep overview of existing control techniques for quasi-resonant converters shows that is possible to use of combined control technique, which consists in applying pulse-width modulation `in-large' and pulse-frequency modulation `in-small' was established. A novel approach of resonant circuit parameter changing use the switched capacitors array was proposed and simulated. Control based on load resistance observer in combinational with lookup table leads to simple and robust control unit. Proposed converter eliminates the main disadvantage of quasi-resonant converters and can be use in portable power supply and energy storage systems.
