Hard to access information are soil state, disease and insect pest. Important information in agriculture are water, soil fertility, soil physical property, and accessibility from main road. In conclusion, knowledge based agricultural information system can be developed based on surveyed needs.

Analysis of the Distinguishing Characteristics of Small Towns in Korea
With the establishment of municipalities, public interest in small towns in Korea has been on the rise. To initiate an effective study and suggest subsequent policies for small towns, it is necessary to analyze and discuss substantive issues based on specific conditions of these small towns. The primary objective of this paper is to categorize small towns into types and to analyze the peculiarities and differences of their internal factors. The focus of this research is to determine the general characteristics of the classified towns and to suggest specific revitalization and specialized studies about them. In the main analysis of this paper, 39 small towns are divided into sets according to urban rank, conditions of location, and size of the population in the central site. Furthermore, distinctions of the divided towns are analyzed using three constituents for urban organization, including populations, activities, and facilities/land. From the research results, it was determined that there is a difference between small town types, according to population, land cost, and urban activities, based upon the urban rank and size of the population in the central site. Therefore, this paper concludes it is necessary to conduct further studies on time series analysis regarding the peculiarity changes of the types, and to complement the variables for future related studies.
Classification Index for Landscape Type - focused on Natural and Rural landscape mapping -
Recently, it is demanded to study about landscape. Landscape is an environment factor for improving life, a social resource for establishing image and identity of the area and also a tourist resource for earning profit. With this importance, landscape planning is being performed by local governments. However, classification for a rule about landscape planning is not prepared yet. For this purpose, classification of landscape is definitely required. Therefore, this article focuses on presenting method of classification Natural and Rural Landscape. We used Arcview 3.2 to draw watershed of the site, and calculated the percent of landform. We also took a picture which explain the landscape and made a survey of classifying the landscape. Due to this study, we were able to frame an algorithm of the landscape classification. This will contribute to classify the landscape type. This study needs more specific researches because it was supposed to target the entire Gyeonggi-Do however it only covered several regions. Through this results, it would be expected to develop the map of landscape character.

The Epistemological Understandings on Ecologism: Applications of Sung Confucianism and The Silhak
The objective of this paper is to investigate the development of Silhak as a Korean epistemology, to investigate the implications of Silhak in Korean society, and to discover further environmental implications. The main discussion of this paper concerns with the epistemology of environmental philosophy. Epistemology is based on the justification of certain knowledge and social philosophy. Epistemology, from the Greek words episteme (knowledge) and logos (word/ speech) is the branch of philosophy concerned with theories of the sources, nature, and limits of knowledge. Since the seventeenth century, epistemology has been one of the fundamental themes of philosophers, who were necessarily obliged to coordinate the theory of knowledge with the development of scientific thought. It is a general belief that Western ideology is substantially embedded in Eastern ideology due to physical and metaphysical colonial involvement. We argue that ecological crisis may be resulted from western epistemological mechanical view, thus we suggests a Korean epistemology as an alternative. In this paper, we seek possibility of epistemological alternative of nature in the Korean traditional epistemology incorporating the epistemology of Sung confucianism and The Silhak.
Study on the Development Status of Korean Hot Springs
Hot springs development will be more activated with the five-day work week system than before. Nevertheless, investment and development achievement of hot springs has not resulted in a successful performance to foster townships, and this calls upon locals to build a guideline to develop hot springs. This study intends to analyze laws on hot springs, which influence mostly on the hot spring development, to gather up the information on the present state of the development, and to suggest considerations for further development plans. Features of the hot spring development are as follows: One is that metropolitan cities will discover hot spring resources more than small cities. Therefore the development will be twofold : one for resort tour and the other for one-day rest and recreation. In addition, Korean laws on hot springs are more site development-oriented to support tourism and recreation than to protect environment and discover unused resources. This makes hot spring development easier and efficient being supported by hot spring law, law on territory development and use, and tourism promotion law. On the other side, planned landscape trimming can be uniformized and unharmonized in terms of local identity and environment-friendliness. This is why careful considerations such as goods and bads of the local resources, local history and culture are needed in hot spring development. A long-term development project should include remodeling based on local identity and development trends. The third point indicates that Korean hot springs development has recorded relatively low performance due to difficult private capital attraction, and a high fence on land purchase and development approval. It is essential to release restrictions on the hot spring development-especially on those whose development performance has not been successful so that best practice can be supported by the government in remodeling and marketing. New plans on hot spring development should be also examined based on developer's capacity and local authorities' volition on the plan. Last point shows that most hot springs development plans have been designed only based on territory utilizing plan and facilities arrangement, not considering much on fund-raising, operational plan or feasibility analysis. Therefore the tourism promotion law should reinforce guidelines on tourist site approval system by supplementing criteria. At the same time, an education on tourism development planning is necessary to deepen developers' understanding, since most developers are experts more on city development, landscape architecture, designing, constructing and engineering than tourism development.

Nutrient Enabled National Agricultural Pesticide Risk Analysis (NAPRA)WWW Decision Support System for Agricultural Best Management Practices
Many features of the Single Field version have been enhanced to provide user friendly interface. The County/Watershed version of NAPRA WWW system was further enhanced. The newly developed Web GIS version is an ideal tool for novice users, such as farmers, to simulate the effects of agricultural management for their farms because of its easy-to-use Web GIS interface. The NAPRA WWW system provides an easy to use WWW interface and uses spatial and relational databases to simplify the process of preparing model files. Thus, the NAPRA WWW systems now can be effectively used for nutrient management as well as pesticide management to identify the least impact agricultural management practices.
Psychological Characteristic Analysis of Brick Pavement Patterns in Rural Area
